Medical Displays

USEI and Totoku: interview with Madhu Reddy President USEI -- May 27, 2008
Q: What products, updates or innovations are you announcing or launching at SIIM?

USEI and Totoku have together released the FDA510K approved new ultrahigh bright color series and the world's first mammography 15 Mega sub pixel (15MSP) gray scale LCD monitors. The 3MP Model CCL354i2 and 2MP Model CCL254i2 have a maximum luminance of 800cd/m² and 950cd/m² respectively. All new models will have solid state photo sensors at the front of the panel to correct real-time luminance and maintain excellent DICOM gray scale TG-18 standards, brightness uniformity correction and built in LUT's.

The ultra bright color series offers excellent contrast and brightness to display gray scale x-ray images, ultrasound and 3D renderings in PACS with color menus. In short these displays are excellent for any medical imaging that demand accurate reproduction of both gray color images.

"Totoku's newest model, the MS51i2, provides tangible benefits for physicians seeking a greater viewing potential with modest cost." says Madhu Reddy, President of US Electronics, Inc.

These new engineering prototype models were exhibited at the Japanese Association of Breast Cancer Screening held in Pacifico Yokohama and also at RSNA 2007 in Chicago, USA.

Q: What are the benefits of using your product and who will benefit from using your product?

USEI and Totoku products help physicians to read images of MRI, CT, CR, DR, US, 3D rendering, mammo, angiograms and nuclear medicine. 3MP ultra bright color displays offer very high contrast and bit depth to see fine details in the x-rays of bones and structures, MRI and CT to see the fine details of soft tissue and structures. High contrast colors help to read the ultrasound images. Operating room surgeons would benefit from the excellent color and gray scales images in high resolution mode during the surgery. 15MSP display is excellent choice for the breast imaging that requires seeing the lumps and calcifications.

Q: What is your main objective from attending this year's SIIM conference?
USEI and Totoku attend SIIM every year to display new products. This is the best place for us to meet the physicians and technologists to share, discuss and exhibit our new products. We value our customer requirements and come up new technologies that will help PACS vendors, hospitals, imaging centers and also radiologists from various universities.

Q: What key messages do you have for SIIM attendees?
USEI and Totoku would like to send a message to present and potential customers to welcome them to take time to compare the products in the market not only on price, but also on the new features like remote calibration and extended warranties, high quality manufactured products and service levels.

Q: What does the year ahead hold in store for USEI and Totoku in terms of a business and clinical sense?
The market for PACS is still growing and new vendors are entering in to the market to compete. USEI and Totoku products are designed not only to make the products affordable, but also offer customers new features like ultra high bright color, sub pixel modulation technologies, remote DICOM calibration and performance monitoring software tools. Combining all new technologies and extended warranties offer us more new opportunities in the PACS and modality markets.
